Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Budgeting
- Prepare and manage project cost estimates and budgets
- Monitor cost variations and provide recommendations for cost-saving opportunities
- Regularly report on cost performance and suggest adjustments
Contract Administration
- Review and negotiate contracts with contractors, suppliers, and vendors
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and administer contract-related issues
Tendering & Procurement
- Oversee tender document preparation and procurement processes
- Review and assess tenders to ensure value for money
Project Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor project financial performance and ensure effective cost control systems
- Prepare financial reports and present to senior management, clients, and stakeholders
Team Management & Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of quantity surveyors, providing guidance and mentorship
- Allocate workloads and oversee project milestones and reporting requirements
Risk Management & Cost Control
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Ensure effective change order and cost variation management
Value Engineering & Cost Optimization
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to optimize design and construction methods
- Provide input on value engineering options to reduce construction costs
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local laws, and regulations
- Maintain accurate records of contractual documents, cost reports, and financial records
Client Liaison & Stakeholder Communication
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Communicate effectively to ensure alignment on project objectives and financial expectations
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
- In-depth knowledge of construction cost estimation, budgeting, and contract management
- Strong experience with procurement, tendering processes, and contract negotiation
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and organizational skills
- High-level negotiation skills to manage contracts and resolve disputes effectively
